After my schooling in Ateneo BSBA and MBA I embarked in raising a family and pursued a career in Marketing and business. Worked from 1960 till 1999 in the Philippines with several companies. DRB Marketing (Product Manager of appliances), Sterling Products International Brand Manager of Bayer Aspirin, Sehwani Marketing as Marketing Manager of a garments factory, Mayon Ceramics as Marketing Manager of Crown Lynn Dinnerware, even joined Cleto Bandril ran his companies finally ending as President of Manila Machinery & Supplies Corporation from 1989 till 1999.

I Opted for early retirement and migrated to the USA in 1999 and moved to the emerald City of Seattle. We had postponed migrating since 1984 because we still had relatively good jobs in Manila. But in 1999 we decided to cut it clean for good for the next generation as I could not see any future for my two daughters.

I joined a 20-year old non-profit Corporation, the Pacific Asian Empowerment Program, serving the more vulnerable segments of the Seattle and King County. My job as Executive Director is to to help improve the quality of lives of Filipinos, Laotians, Hmongs. Samoans and Tongans seniors, refugees and needy adults. Being a non-profit organization kanya di masyadong kaya magbayad ng malaki pero very very spiritually rewarding ang trabaho. We are funded principally by the City of Seattle. Secondarily we are awarded grants by the State of Washington, the Federal Government and private foundations and individuals.

As you may have guessed, I continually have to write grants to meet our goals. It is a fulfilling job and Seattle is a beautiful City with friendly people. Aside from my work and family my passion is tennis and we have a group of Filipinos here that play regularly.

My wife Hope an Illonga made a name for herself in the Philippines as Head of the Domestic and Foreign Field Offices. Here in Seattle she joined since 1999 the Univesity of Washington as Human Relations and Admin Manager of their Technology and Patent Licensing office. She is doing very well. We just have two siblings. Both daughters and have adjusted like fish in water in the USA. The eldest Anna Marie now 31 finished her Business and Pschology in St. Scholastica. Here she recently completed her masters degree in Education and works as a teacher. My youngest daughter Amber now 22 is in her senior year in the Jesuit University the Seattle University. Both are still single. We continue to work as we are relatively new and need to raise more retirement money but the most important thing is we are enjoying our new lives here with the grace of God.

I am attaching our latest family photo taken at home here in Seattle about six months ago. As you can see tumantanda na rin lahat tayo pero glamorous pa rin at malakas ang fighting spirit.

Katabi ko si Anna Marie (morena), a teacher while beside Hope is our youngest si Amber (tisay) who is about to graduate from Seattle University (a Jesuit University like Ateneo) in Mass Communications.
